What is the best branded drinkware for corporate gifts?

Five drinkware styles compared for clients, staff and events, with price bands, decoration tips and one material to avoid.

For most corporate gifts, the best branded drinkware is a double-wall insulated stainless steel bottle with a laser engraved logo. It suits almost everyone, gets used daily and still looks good a year later. Tumblers, reusable coffee cups, ceramic mugs and glassware all have their place too, depending on who you're gifting and how much you want to spend.

People keep drinkware because it's useful. In the Advertising Specialty Institute's 2026 study, 87% of people said usefulness was why they'd keep a branded drinkware item, and more than three quarters said they'd use it at least weekly and keep it for at least a year.

"A good bottle is one of the few gifts that ends up on someone's desk every single day. That's why I'd rather see a client spend a bit more on fewer, better pieces than hand out something that leaks in a month."

1. Insulated stainless steel bottle

Best all-round corporate gift. Suits clients, staff and event VIPs.

A double-wall vacuum insulated bottle in 18/8 (also called 304) food grade stainless steel is the safest all-round pick. It keeps drinks cold for most of the day and hot for hours, doesn't sweat on a desk and survives being dropped in a car park. It works for office staff, site crews, gym-goers and parents on the school run, which is why it's the best choice when you don't know the recipient well.

Laser engraving is the best decoration for steel. It marks the steel or removes the powder coat rather than sitting on top, so the logo won't peel or wash off. A powder-coated bottle with a tone-on-tone engraved logo lifts perceived value and looks like something people would buy for themselves. Choose a leakproof lid, since a bottle that drips into someone's laptop bag doesn't get used twice, and check whether it fits a standard car cup holder.

Price band: stainless steel bottles often start around $15 to $25 each, while premium and gift-ready corporate drinkware usually lands around $18 to $60 depending on size and finish.

2. Insulated tumbler with handle and straw

Best for younger teams and gifts that need to feel on-trend.

Large insulated tumblers with a handle and straw lid have become everyday accessories, helped along by big retail brands. ASI notes that the popularity of brands such as YETI, Owala and Stanley has helped drinkware grow to just over 10% of annual promotional product sales.

Branded tumblers suit staff gifts, wellness programs and event giveaways because people use them throughout the day. They're bulkier than bottles and many aren't fully leakproof when tipped over, so they're better for desks and cars than for bags, though many handled styles still fit a car cup holder. Insulated designs keep drinks hot or cold for hours, and straw lids are handy for iced drinks at warm-weather events. Laser engraving or a wrap-around print both work well on the wide, straight sides of a steel tumbler.

Price band: mid to premium.

3. Reusable coffee cup

Best for office teams and clients with a café habit.

Australia has a strong takeaway coffee culture, so a reusable cup that fits under a café machine often becomes part of someone's daily commute and gets used most working days. Glass, recycled plastic and stainless steel versions are all common. Insulated steel cups keep coffee hot for longer, while glass and plastic cups are lighter and easier to clean.

The lid and seal are the parts that fail first, so look for cups with replaceable parts. Australian company KeepCup, for example, sells replacement lids and plugs, which extends the life of the cup well beyond a cheap single-piece design.

Price band: budget to mid.

4. Ceramic mug

Best for budget gifts, desk-based staff and larger quantities.

A ceramic mug is cheap, familiar and sits on a desk in full view all day. That makes it a good choice for new starter packs, internal events and gifts to staff who work mostly in one place. It's a weaker choice for clients, since it's harder to post and less likely to leave the office.

Common decoration methods include screen printing, full colour sublimation on white mugs (ideal for vibrant, all-over designs), engraving through a coloured glaze and pad printing for small, detailed logos on curved surfaces. The right method depends on the artwork, the finish you want and what the product allows. Ask whether the print is dishwasher safe or needs hand washing, because a logo that fades after a month of washing reflects on your brand. Matte glazes and coloured interiors make a standard mug feel more considered for little extra cost.

Price band: budget. Minimum order quantities for custom drinkware often sit between 12 and 48 pieces, though mugs usually suit larger runs.

5. Glassware sets

Best for premium client gifts, end of year thank-yous and hospitality brands.

A pair of etched whisky tumblers, wine glasses or a branded carafe set reads as a proper gift rather than merchandise. It suits client appreciation, milestone thank-yous and businesses in wine, beer, spirits and hospitality. Glass tumblers with bamboo lids are a stylish option when you want something less alcohol-focused.

Etching or deep engraving keeps the branding subtle and permanent, and a quality gift box does a lot of the work. Glass needs careful packing for freight, so check how your supplier protects it in transit and what happens if something arrives broken. Think about the recipient too, since alcohol-related gifts don't suit everyone.

Price band: mid to premium.

One to avoid: bamboo fibre cups

Cups and tumblers made from bamboo fibre are often sold as natural and eco-friendly, but the bamboo powder is bound with melamine-formaldehyde resin. Germany's Federal Institute for Risk Assessment found more than 35% of the bamboo cups it tested released formaldehyde or melamine above safety limits, and the UK Food Standards Agency has told businesses to stop selling plastic food containers and cups that contain bamboo and similar plant fibres.

For a gift that carries your logo, steel, glass and good quality recycled plastic are safer choices. Our guide to eco-friendly promotional products covers this in more detail.

Details that make drinkware feel premium

The same bottle can look like a giveaway or a gift depending on a few small choices. ASI estimates branded drinkware earns about 1,300 brand impressions over its life, so the details are worth getting right.

  • A smaller, tone-on-tone logo usually looks more expensive than a large full colour print.
  • A matte powder coat feels better in the hand than gloss.
  • Individual names engraved alongside the logo turn a corporate gift into a personal one.
  • A rigid gift box or printed sleeve makes the unboxing feel like an occasion.
  • Recycled or long-life materials can support your ESG, wellness and sustainability goals.

It's hard to judge any of this from a catalogue photo, so ask to see a digital mockup of your logo on the actual product and colour before ordering. Crest Promos carries more than 4,000 products, including a wide drinkware range, and provides free quotes and digital proofs, so you can compare a few options side by side before committing. Pricing can shift at different quantities for the same product.

Lead times and minimum order quantities vary by product and decoration method, but many custom drinkware orders arrive around 10 to 14 business days after artwork approval. Some decoration methods also carry setup fees of about $40 to $75 per colour.

"Ask for the engraving to be smaller than you think. A subtle logo gets a nice bottle carried around, while a huge one tends to leave it in the cupboard."
